“Diwali Layi Hai Ek Umang, Udu Mein Apne Ummedo Ke Sang.”

Every Diwali, Anmol a registered NGO, a project of the Salesian Sisters organises a mega-event known as  “Anmol Diwali Dhamaka” It is a platform where we appreciate and encourage the girl child by bringing them together and motivating them to live their lives in all its fullness.

This year, 5th November 2018 was a day set apart for the celebration of this famous Anmol Diwali Dhamaka. The long-awaited day, dawned with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. Around 1000 girls from streets, slums and pavements participated in the Diwali celebrations.  Our theme for this year was, ‘Diwali layi hai ek Umang, Udu main apne ummedo ke sang’. (Diwali has instilled in me an ambition a spark of light and I want to fly along with my dreams)

Anmol Diwali Dhamaka commenced at 8.30 am and concluded at 5.30pm. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Jayesh Chandan. He encouraged the girls to educate themselves and do everything willingly. The high points of the day were the inspiring sharing of the two past pupils of Anmol, Ms. Anita Variya and Ms. Soni Singh, who entered the NGO as helpless and needy girls but now have gained status in the society because of their hope and hard work. Apart from this, the entire day was packed with a lot of stall games, activities like hairstyle, tattoo making, Mehendi, nail art, Wonderful music, Educational session on  Self- defense for the Juniors and Goals for Sustainable Development for the Senior ones. We also had an amazing cultural programme, where every performance shed light on the importance of education.

The girls enjoyed themselves in the stall games and won many prizes, rocked the dance floor with their beautiful dance and by their active participation in the sessions proved how much they long for a better future. One of the stall activity invited the girls to write their dreams and aspirations for their life and the response that came from them was amazing and heart touching. In the afternoon, RVR Event Services conducted Tele – games for the girl. They participated in it wholeheartedly and enjoyed the moment.

Thanks to our sisters, candidates, volunteers and every donor big and small who made it happen.

It was indeed a beautiful day where each one of them experienced the feeling of oneness and celebrated their uniqueness. We are quite certain that every girl went home with a message of fulfilling her own dreams by educating herself with all that she experiences in her life.

The smiling faces and sparkling eyes of these underprivileged girls helped us- Sisters and the volunteers, to understand the real meaning of spreading joy and lighting up the lives of those around us.
