AMAR NEWS # 66 AUXILIUM FILM FIESTA 2019

It was a proud moment for the Province of MM Mumbai to conduct the Auxilium Film Fiesta 2019 on 2nd February 2019 at the Church Hall of the Immaculate Conception Hall, Panjim.

It was a film fiesta organised for aspiring film makers especially youngsters to showcase their talent in media. The participants had to present their story in 10 mins on any of the following topics ecology, social media, globalisation, modernisation, culture, technology, and human revolution. It could be in the form of live action, animation or documentary.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Sr. Ritha Dora Thomas FMA, Provincial of MM Mumbai Province, accompanied by Sr. Magdaline Sequeira FMA, the Vice-Provincial. The Guests of Honour were Dr. Edwin Gomes, Professor, and Head of the Department of Medicine, Goa and Mr. Raghu Shetiya, owner of Transport company in the name of Taxigo Goa’s first online Taxi Portal.

The programme started with the guests being escorted on the dais, the lighting of the lamp and a brief introduction of each guest was read. The school students of Auxilium Caranzalem offered a potted plant to the dignitaries.  Sr. Celine Pinto, the headmistress of Auxilium Caranzalem felicitated the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour. In the presence of Sisters and nearly 300 students from the different schools, Sr. Rita Dora then declared the Auxilium Film Fiesta open.

The differently abled children of Disha Charitable Trust, Panjim presented a dance ‘Maria Pitache’, which was applauded by all those gathered.

There were 32 entries for the Film Fiesta out of which the best 11 were selected and screened. The 4 judges Ms. Pramod Salgoankar, Ms. Faiza Shaikh, Fr. Lawrence SFX, and Mr. Harshvardhan had a tough time to select the best one.

The crux of the event began when the 4 judges were introduced and the

11 films were screened.

After lunch, the winners of the competition were announced. The first place was bagged Mr. Swapnil Bhishekar, Kalyan, Maharashtra with 30,000 cash prize along with an e-bike

The second place by Mr. Karthikeyan S, Trichy with 20,000 cash prize and an e-bike

The third place by Mrs. Vaidehi Chaware, Nagpur with 10,000 cash prize and 32 inches TV set

The five consolation prizes were 5,000 each along with a car air purifier

The fourth place and the fifth place by Mr. Ravikant Soitkar, Nagpur

The sixth place by Mr. Mohan Shinde, Dharavi, Maharashtra

The seventh place by the students of NKES Tech Kids, Wadala, Maharashtra

And the eighth place by the group Backbenchers, Goa

The prize winners who were present at the venue were Mr. Karthikeyan from Trichy and the NKES students and teachers from Mumbai.

 

Our 4 centres i.e Mornese Vihar, Sulcorna, Auxilium- Benaulim, Auxilium-Carona, and Auxilium- Caranzalem performed 2 dances, a mime and a medley of songs which was appreciated by the assembly.

Our thanks to our Provincial and the council for their support and cooperation, the animators and Sisters of our communities in Goa and Oros, especially to Sr. Caroline D’Souza and the community of Caranzalem for their collaboration and help.
