AMAR NEWS # 71 Don Bosco with us!

It was a joyous moment to meet our Rector Major at MYC, Wadala on 23rd March 2019. The animators and the Sisters of Mumbai graciously welcomed Fr. Angel Artime Fernandez at 4.00 p.m. He was accompanied by his secretary, Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, the Salesian Provincial of the Mumbai Province and Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, the Secretary of the Provincial.

He was welcomed by Sr. Ritha Dora Thomas, the Provincial and was lovingly greeted by the youngsters.  The Rector Major addressed the Sisters saying,” You are consecrated women. Live up to your consecration. Be joyful always. Take care of the poor and abandoned youngsters. They do not want material things from us but our joyful selves. Your faces reveal the person you are.”

“The House of Valdocco was a house of saints. We all have to be saints. Saints of our times.”

He added that whenever he visits any part of the world, he makes it a point to meet the Salesian Sisters. And they always welcome him with joy. When he notices the joyful faces of the elderly Sisters, it speaks of their contented lives.

To add to the gladness the Rector Major played 3 songs in Spanish, his mother tongue, which spoke of Salesian joy. The Sisters too sang the hymn Mi Alma Canta- Magnificat in Spanish.

After spending nearly 45 minutes with the Salesian Sisters, he bade goodbye and invited the FMA to participate in the Eucharistic Banquet at Don Bosco Shrine, Matunga.
