The Triennial Verification was held at SJTC Lonavala on November 22, 2024. The theme for the day was “Community’s mission that generates life”. The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Fr. Chris Saldanha, SDB, which set a reflective and spiritual tone for the event. The liturgy beautifully revolved around the Wedding Feast at Cana, with the six jars symbolizing the vibrant regions of Goa, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. This representation highlighted the unity and diversity of the province, rooted in the spirit of service and mission.
The formal inauguration began with an introduction by the moderator, Sr. Caroline Menezes, who warmly welcomed the gathering and set the stage for the day's proceedings. This was followed by a prayer led by Sr. Lata Arogyaswamy, invoking God's presence and guidance as the participants prepared for a day of deep reflection and sharing. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing enlightenment and the mission's guiding light, marked the official opening of the event.
Sr. Meenakshi D'Silva, the Provincial, extended a heartfelt welcome to all present, including the cherished lay collaborators. She expressed gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the mission, acknowledging their shared responsibility and co-responsibility in the province's journey.
The event proceeded with presentations from Sr. Gloria Ferrao and other sector representatives, showcasing the best practices implemented across various areas of the mission. These presentations not only highlighted innovations but also inspired participants to build on these successes.
The participants were then divided into discussion groups, fostering dialogue and brainstorming ideas for the mission's growth. The group reports, presented to the general assembly, offered a wealth of insights and recommendations, strengthening the collective vision and action plans.
Adding a youthful perspective, Miss.Ancilia Patrao, a youth representative, shared her enriching experience at the Salesian Youth Synod at Rome, inspiring everyone with her enthusiasm and insights.
The lay collaborators, Tr. Corina Mendonca, Tr. Bridget D’Monte, and Mr. Praveen Gonsalves, shared their experiences of working alongside the sisters. They expressed admiration for the respect and dedication the Sisters uphold in their various fields of service.
After the sector-wise sharing, the lay collaborators Mrs. Shobhana Shelke, a dedicated Salesian Cooperator, shared her commitment and willingness to assist the Sisters in any capacity, reaffirming her role as a vital support to the mission. Miss.Ancilia Patrao, and the students' council representatives Gail Munnaswamy, shared their reflections. They both suggested to form a province level youth group led by the youth themselves. Miss Harsha Parmar also shared her thoughts, expressing her joy and sense of purpose in being part of the gathering.
As the day drew to a close, Sr. Philomena Lobo expressed profound gratitude to everyone present, especially the lay collaborators, for their commitment and support. The day ended with a prayer of thanksgiving, leaving all with a renewed spirit of faith, collaboration, and dedication to the mission.
