AMAR NEWS # 18 Diwali Dhamaka

Just as a candle brings light in the darkness, children bring hope of a brighter future to a world groping in darkness.

With these sentiments, Anmol Society organised this year’s Diwali Dhamaka, keeping the following slogan as the theme, “दियों से होगी दिवाली उज्जवल, बच्चों से होगा देश प्रजवल”.

With a crowd of more than a thousand young girls, the grounds of Auxilium Wadala were bubbling with life and joy on 27th October 2016. The young people were welcomed in with a bag containing a special colourful badge and coupons to avail of different goodies. They were then taken to the breakfast counter to be energized for the fun filled morning.

After their breakfast, the children queued up at various stalls, set up for their amusement, which starred with different games. The children could also avail themselves of the much loved candy floss, popcorn and ice candy.

The inaugural function began at 10.30 a.m. with a prayer moment that focussed on ‘being light’. The chief guests Mr. Jayyant & Mrs. Saraswati Lapsiaa, and Prof. RSS Mani, Ms. Rita D’Sa, Ms. Kirtana Jaishankar were felicitated and thanked for their constant help and support towards ANMOL

The children were then divided into two groups according to their age. They then had a session on the awareness of Human Trafficking and Life Skills conducted by Sr. Magdeline Sequeira and her team. After a sumptuous meal, the children had a really digestive jam session with the DJ striking the right notes of the children’s favourite hit songs. The energy of the children despite the scorching heat was something to be admired. Alongside the dance, stalls were kept open for the children to indulge themselves in nail painting, hair dressing and mehendi designing, all of which were later to be judged and the best three given prizes. All throughout the programme, the Anmol Sisters, staff, and volunteers saw to it that the children made the most of what was at their disposal.

The next item in the programme was the Cultural Programme wherein different NGO Groups put before an enthralled audience their beautiful and lively dances from among whom none went away without a prize. After the general prize distribution ceremony and the Vote of thanks, the DHAMAKEDAR Diwali Dhamaka came to an end. The children were given a small take away gift along with delicious snacks before leaving the campus.
