AMAR NEWS # 14 FMA PCI 2016

The Annual Meeting of FMA PCI 2016 is held at Sacred Heart Convent, Bangalore from1- 4 September 2016 with the theme:Importance of Salesian historical memory.

38 participants from the six FMA India Provinces are participating in it. We are honoured to have our dear Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, General Councilor to preside over this meeting and Sr. Piera Cavaglià, Secretary General as the chief resource person.

The FMA-PCI, 2016 commenced with the Morning Prayer on the theme “centrality of the human person with the outlook of the Mercifu

l Father”. The beautifully animated inaugural Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Mathew Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, SDB, Provincial of Bangalore Province. He helped us savour the rich heritage of the presence of our Institute in India. The importance of Salesian historical memory was highlighted through the various symbols which were carried to the altar with enriching commentary by Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, Presiding General Council, Sr. Piera Cavaglià, Secretary General & the Resource person, the 6 FMA Provincials – Sr. Magnificat Soosai, Provincial of Chennai, Sr. Isabella Suja, Provincial of Shillong, Sr. Ritha Dora Thomas, Provincial of Mumbai, Sr. Crescentia D’Almeida, Provincial of Bangalore, Sr. Rose Ezarath, Provincial of Kolkata, Sr. Elizabeth George, President – PCI and Provincial of Guwahati and Sr. Isabella Mary Alphonse, National Co-ordinator of NDF.

At 9.00 a.m., the FMA-PCI participants were escorted by the Auxilium School Children and the School band to the beautifully decorated Nancy Memorial Hall for the FMA-PCI 2016 inaugural function. The program began with a prayer dance by the school children which was followed by words of welcome by Sr. Crescentia D’Almeida, the Provincial of the host Province. During the program, Sr. Lucy Rose, Sr. Piera and the 6 Provincials were honoured with a shawl and were offered a bouquet of flowers and the Delegates, Special invitees and the national Co-ordinators were welcomed with colourful scarfs and a red rose.  A beautiful typical fusion dance too was staged by the children. Taking into account the exhortation of Pope Francis to take care of nature, Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, Sr. Piera Cavaglià, Sr. Elizabeth George, Sr. Crescentia D’Almeida and Sr. Lydia Komuhra were invited to water the plant as a sign of our desire to strengthen our communion with God and the whole cosmos. Sr. Lucy Rose in an informal way voiced the thanks and appreciation for the wonderful inaugural function organized by Sr. Crescentia, the Sisters and students.

As the participants of the FMA-PCI came to the conference hall each one was presented with the PCI file. Sr. Elizabeth George, President of the FMA-PCI, delivered the welcome address and welcomed Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, the Presiding General Councilor, Sr. Piera Cavaglià, Secretary General. Sr. Elizabeth George specifically stressed on the theme of the FMA-PCI – “Importance of Salesian historical memory”. She also thanked Sr. Crescentia D’Almeida and the Sisters of INK for readily hosting the FMA-PCI Meet, 2016.

Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil delivered the inaugural address. She spoke on the significance of our coming together as FMA-PCI which is a sign of communion. She exhorted the participants to preserve and value historical memory so that we may not face a future that has no roots in the past. Sr. Lucy Rose invited the sisters to value the presence of Sr. Piera Cavaglià who is the “Living Archive” and reminded us of our duty to carry on the rich patrimony handed to us by our founders.
