AMAR NEWS # 13 Media Festival & Seminar

Media Seminar: 21 vibrant and enthusiastic sisters from various communities of our province participated in the Media seminar held at MYC Wadala from 19th to 21stAugust 2016. Sr. Hilda Braganza and Sr. Melissa D’souza organized this seminar with great zest. We began with a short prayer moment to invoke the blessings of the Holy Trinity upon each of us. This was followed by a session conducted by Sr. Perpetual Ferrao on how to use the Photoshop software. She first installed the software on the laptops brought by the sisters and then began the session with great enthusiasm. This was followed by a session on communication skills by Mr. Frazier Martins, a professional who conducts sessions for business firms. He delved on some of the important communication skills like time management, goal setting, voice modulation etc along with a lot of group activities.  The Photoshop session by Sr. Perpetual continued on the 21st wherein we learnt a lot of techniques to edit photos and pictures.

Media festival 2016: 20th August 2016 dawned with its bright hues upon MYC Wadala as the young voices of all the participants for the Media festival were heard down the corridors and the hall throughout this day. The vibrant music, bright colours of various costumes, various competitions and lively conversation were the three aspects that could describe this event in a few words.

The theme, ‘Celebrating God’s Mercy’ was like a thread that ran through all the events of this day. After registering their names the participants were given a badge, coupons for meals and were then led to the venue. We began with a short prayer moment highlighting that God is everywhere and in everyone around us and that his mercy is abounding for those who seek it. Prayer really gave a kick-start to this event as each item followed the other smoothly as planned.

The compere for the day was Mrs. Clevy D’Silva who indeed set an interesting tone to the entire Media Festival with her jokes, anecdotes and life experiences as she introduced each item of the event. Sr. Hilda Braganza declared the Media Fest open and there were sounds of yells and cheers accompanied by music. The main highlights of the day were various competitions like singing and dancing both, individual and group, poster, Audio-visual and fashion show. Our four jubilarians, Sr. Flida Morris, Sr. Perpetual Ferrao, Sr. Meena D’silva and Sr. Justina Rodrigues were also felicitated during this event. Sr. Teresa Joseph spoke on Mother Teresa who will be canonized during this year of mercy.

Finally there was the distribution of prizes for all the participants who excelled in the various competitions. It was a lovely sight to see the hall bubbling with youth and their cheers as they received their prizes.
