AMAR NEWS # 22 Provincial Gratitude Day

‘Consecrated to be Merciful’…with this theme began a month long spiritual preparation for our Provincial Gratitude Day, which gave us many occasions and ways to practice ‘Mercy’ in our daily lives. And finally, we sisters, animators, candidates and boarders gathered together with thanksgiving in our hearts around our dear Provincial Sr. Ritha Dora on the 11th – 12th of February. Our celebration began with a solemn Vigil Service where we relived the past month of preparation. We recalled the various initiatives taken by us in our respective communities to grow in the ‘culture of mercy’. With gratitude we also remembered our dear departed sisters who left us during this academic year. This was followed by a special meal in the Garden, which was beautifully lit up with lights and flowers. We had a short power point presentation on the various deeds of mercy done by the communities. Thereafter, the sisters of the different states, namely, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra came forward in their own creative way to thank Sr. Ritha Dora for all that she is and does, and for being the Shepherdess of our M. M. Mumbai Province. Sr. Ritha Dora was moved by the love and affection and thanked the sisters profusely, in particular her close collaborators – the councillors.
The next morning we awoke with much joy and gathered around the Lord to thank Him for all the blessings bestowed on our Province. We then had a special moment of togetherness in the Refectory with the cutting of the cake. We assembled in Chapel for the solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 9.30 am. In his homily, Fr. Valerain sdb, stressed on the theme ‘Consecrated to be merciful’. We then proceeded to the well decorated basement for a few entertaining games and then a festal lunch.

We are indeed grateful to God for our dear Provincial Sr. Ritha Dora, her councillors and for each sister who contributes in building our Province.

We are grateful for all the blessings He bestows on us. We pray that we may continue to live and spread the ‘Culture of Mercy’ where ever we work.
