Salesian Family Day was grandly celebrated on 12th February, 2017, at Auxilium Convent, Caranzalem, Goa. Over 160 priests, brothers and sisters, Cooperators, members of the Association of Mary Our Help, and Past Pupils from all the Don Bosco institutions from Oros (South Maharashtra) to Madanthyar (South Karnataka) attended this function. The whole programme was ably coordinated by an organizing team headed by Rev. Fr. Savio Gomes, Provincial Delegate for the Salesian Family.
The theme for the day was the Strenna (message) of the present Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, 10th successor of Don Bosco: “We are a Family! Every Home, a School of Life and Love!” The strenna was well explained through a power point presentation by the Formation Councillor, Mrs. Theresa Baretto Cruz. It was followed by the Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Felix Fernandes, Provincial of the Don Bosco Panjim Province, who gave an edifying homily stressing on the subject of “Love and Family”.
DJ Savio de Noronha, Enid Varela and Joanne de Souza dished out entertaining music and games galore to keep the participants in a cheerful spirit of togetherness. The programme ended with a scrumptious lunch with everyone heading back to their homes with lovely memories of a fun filled day.
